SPRINT Overview

SPRINT Fellowships are funded experiences intended to catalyze and deepen undergraduate student learning and skill development through internships, research, and teaching.

Types of SPRINT Fellowships for Summer 2025

There are two types of SPRINT Fellowships for Summer 2025

  1. Brown-Generated SPRINT Fellowships
    Brown-generated fellowships are listed opportunities with Brown faculty, host organizations, and community partners that are reserved for Brown students.

  2. Student-Generated SPRINT Fellowships
    Student-generated fellowships are internships and research projects that students secure or develop in partnership with faculty, host organizations, and community partners.

  • US High Cost of Living Cities: Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
  • Aided students are eligible for the High Cost of Living (HCOL) housing supplement if their fellowship experience is located internationally.
  • Aided students are eligible for the High Cost of Living (HCOL) housing supplement if their fellowship experience is located in a US High Cost of Living Location, they are living within 30 miles of the city, and they are responsible for paying for their housing expenses this summer (i.e., not living with a family member or friend at no charge).

A Summer Earnings Waiver (SEW) is available to eligible students with University Scholarship funding once in their time at Brown. For 2024-25, the Summer Earnings Waiver amount was $2,900. 

 

  • SPRINT Fellowships are only available to active Brown undergraduate students, who are not currently on leave. (Students who are actively enrolled as part of study abroad are eligible to apply for SPRINT Fellowships for future terms when they return.)
  • For Summer SPRINT Fellowships, you must be enrolled during both the prior spring and following fall semesters. (Students who take a leave of absence during the Spring 2025 semester, or plan to take a leave for the Fall 2025 semester, will not be eligible for a Summer 2025 SPRINT Fellowship.)
  • For Fall and Spring Semester SPRINT Fellowships, you may not be on a leave of absence from Brown either during the semester you apply or during the semester when you would participate in a SPRINT Fellowship. 
  • The team will work with Brown’s Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards to ensure that applicants are in compliance with conduct expectations.
